Syngonium species are popular ornamental plants commonly grown as houseplants, typically during their juvenile foliage stages. Among the various Syngonium varieties, Syngonium podophyllum is the most widely cultivated and is often referred to simply as Syngonium. For successful growth of these tissue culture plants, it's essential to maintain a winter minimum temperature of 16 °C to 18 °C (60 to 65°F), increasing to 20 °C to 30 °C (68 to 86 °F) during the growing season. They thrive in high humidity, which can be achieved by misting the leaves regularly, and they require good light, although not direct sunlight; they can tolerate low light conditions. Water generously from spring to autumn, but do so sparingly during winter. Regular feeding is recommended in spring and summer. If you prefer the juvenile foliage, prune away any climbing stems that develop to keep the plant bushy, resulting in more arrow-shaped leaves. Repot every second spring to encourage healthy growth.
