Genewin Biotech was founded in 2006, hitting the ground running with the production of the G9 banana variety. This was just the first step in a journey that would make Genewin a household name in tissue culture in India.
By 2008, Genewin had successfully pioneered the large-scale tissue culture production of two local banana varieties: Monthan and Red banana. This was a massive leap in terms of both technological innovation and market coverage.
In 2011, overcoming numerous challenges, Genewin standardized the tissue culture protocol for Yelakki, a particularly tough banana variety. It then began large-scale production after a two-year development period.
In collaboration with a major Indian energy company, we established the protocol for bambusa balcooa, intended for a bioenergy project. 2012 also saw an expansion of our banana portfolio to include Karpuravalli, Nendran, and Rasthali.
In a groundbreaking partnership with a Madagascar-based firm, Genewin became the first in India to produce tissue cultured vanilla plants. This engagement was under a two-year contractual agreement.
We introduced Tissue Culture Dendrocalamus asper, Bambusa nutans, and Bambusa Tulda to the Indian market, being the first in India to standardize their tissue culture protocols and offer these varieties.
As per encouragement from IISR (Indian Institute of Spices Research) under ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research), Genewin became the licensee for IISR Varada ginger production in India, standardised protocol for Ginger . This year also marked the commercial production of TC D.Brandisii and D. Stocksii bamboo varieties.
Another feather in our cap was the standardization of the protocol for black turmeric tissue culture plants, making us the first in India to achieve this feat.
2019 saw further diversification with the introduction of T. Oliveri, D. Latiflorus, and B. Vulgaris green, following successful protocol standardization.
Genewin undertook the standardization of Rose Araca Savi, laying the groundwork for its large-scale production in the near future.
The latest addition to our portfolio includes teak, mahogany, and red sandal, underlining our commitment to diversification and innovation.
